3. Terminology:
Cantilever beam: unnotched sample cantilever beam impact strength: the ratio of the impact energy absorbed by the unnotched sample in the cantilever impact and destruction process to the original cross-sectional area of ​​the sample, expressed in KJ/m2.
Izod impact strength of notched specimen: The ratio of the impact energy absorbed by the notched specimen during the cantilever damage process to the original cross-sectional area of ​​the specimen at the notch, expressed in KJ/m2.
Four, principle
Cantilever beam: use a pendulum of known energy to impact a sample that is supported as a vertical cantilever beam. Measure the energy absorbed when the sample is broken. The impact line is a fixed distance from the sample fixture. For a notched sample, the impact line is to the notch. The center line is a fixed distance.
