There are three main types of machine tools used for grinding non-standard metal stamping dies: surface grinder, internal and external cylindrical grinder and tool grinding tool. Grinding deformation and grinding cracks should be strictly controlled during finishing grinding. Even tiny cracks will be exposed in subsequent processing. Therefore, the feed of fine grinding should be small and not large, the coolant should be sufficient, and parts with dimensional tolerance within 0.01mm should be grinded at constant temperature as far as possible.
In the process of production and manufacturing, there are two main methods to use the surface grinder to grind the parts: one is to use the formed grinding wheel after dressing, the other is to grind with special fixture.

Grinding with form grinding wheel: when dressing the grinding wheel with diamond, most of them are dressing the geometric shape of the forming surface in sections, but some of them are dressing the grinding wheel into shaping. This method of dressing grinding wheel is mainly accomplished by various grinding wheel tools. The grinding wheel tools in production mainly include grinding angle, arc grinding wheel, universal grinding wheel, profiling grinding wheel, etc.
Grinding with special fixture: when grinding the workpiece, the workpiece can be clamped on the special fixture according to certain conditions, and the required shape can be obtained by fixing or constantly changing the position during the processing. The commonly used grinding fixtures are: precision flat pliers, sinusoidal magnetic table, sinusoidal indexing fixture, universal fixture, rotating magnetic table and center hole splint. This grinding method is generally carried out on a surface grinder.
