Nexteer launches high-output electric power steering system
Recently, Nexteer Automotive announced the launch of a high-output electric power steering system (EPS) that can improve the safety, comfort and fuel efficiency of heavy-duty (HD) trucks and light commercial vehicles (LCV). With the electric power steering system, drivers of HD trucks and LCV models can save fuel consumption and can obtain advanced features such as lane keeping assist, crosswind compensation, and trailer assist.
The high-output electric power steering system improves the function of Nexteer’s rack-assisted EPS (REPS) system. Because the system can load a rack load of 24 kN, while the load of a general REPS system is about 10 to 15 kN.
At present, most HD trucks and LCV models use hydraulic power steering system (HPS), but high-output electric power steering systems can allow automotive OEMs to stand out in the fierce HD truck and LCV model market and win consumers Attention and loyalty to the product.
So far, Nexteer has successfully applied high-output EPS to three electric vehicles, including a full-size electric pickup, an electric light commercial vehicle (delivery vehicle) and an electric L4 self-driving passenger shuttle bus (No steering wheel). In addition to providing high-output EPS, Nexteer also provides a complete EPS system combination that can meet the requirements of various sizes of vehicles.
Other EPS solutions of Nexteer also include rack-assisted electric power steering system (REPS), double-pinion power-assisted electric power steering system (DPEPS), single-pinion power-assisted electric power steering system (SPEPS), pipe column Power-assisted electric power steering system (CEPS) and high-availability electric power steering system (EPS).
